A Moment of Magic is a nonprofit organization that provides creative play, social-emotional support, and mental health resources to medically vulnerable children. Through in-person and virtual programs, trained volunteers bring joy, connection, and empowerment to children facing serious illnesses.

A Moment of Magic (AMoM), formerly known as The Princess Project, was founded by Kylee McGrane in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. The program began as a way to bring joy, magic, and empowerment to children facing serious illnesses by college students dressing as beloved characters during hospital and school visits. Since then, AMoM has grown into a national nonprofit organization with a diverse range of programs aimed at providing creative play, mental health support, and social-emotional learning opportunities to medically vulnerable children. AMoM has reached children in all 50 states and seven different countries, providing thousands of visits since 2014. We have have impacted over 150,000 children through our programs.

We offer several key programs: Creative Play Programs – In-person and virtual character visits, storytelling, music, and interactive experiences. AMoM Unlimited – Virtual programming that ensures children can participate from home or the hospital. Express, Create, Heal (ECH) – A mental health initiative that uses creative arts and social-emotional learning to support children and caregivers.

Our programs are available to medically vulnerable children (ages 3-18) and their families. We partner with hospitals, treatment centers, community organizations, and individual families to bring our services to those in need.

AMoM was founded in New York City in December 2014 and started with just two volunteers. In 2015, we launched our college chapter system, and in 2017, we expanded again, keeping our national headquarters in NYC while partnering with colleges and universities nationwide. Today, we operate with over 25 chapters and continue to grow each year!

Here’s how your support makes a difference: $25 funds a virtual visit through AMoM Unlimited, bringing joy to a child from the comfort of their hospital bed or home. $50 supports a character visit, creating a magical, in-person experience for a child undergoing treatment. $100 provides supplies for an Express, Create, Heal (ECH) workshop, helping children explore emotions through art and storytelling. $500 helps train and equip volunteers, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed interactions with children and families. $1,000+ enables us to expand our hospital partnerships and outreach, reaching more children who need moments of joy and connection. Every donation—big or small—helps us continue providing free, high-impact programs that bring smiles, hope, and comfort to children and their families.

Yes! Your cryptocurrency donation is tax deductible! In fact, supporters who want to donate cryptocurrency are supporting our work in a tax-efficient way. Cryptocurrency donations provide 30% more income directly to our work than traditional cash gifts. The IRS currently classifies cryptocurrency donations as property, meaning they are not subject to capital gains tax and are tax-deductible on your return. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. For example, for donors in the United States, the IRS has classified bitcoin as property for tax purposes. This means that when someone donates bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit like A Moment of Magic, donors do not have to pay capital gains tax and it is tax-deductible.

Yes! Crypto donations can be given anonymously, donors simply check a box within the donation widget. Donors also have the option to still receive a donation receipt, via The Giving Block directly, meaning that you can still claim your crypto donation on your return but you have retained your anonymity with A Moment of Magic (we won't take it personally).

NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token. NFTs are tokens that we can use to represent ownership of unique items, such as art, collectibles or even real estate. NFTs are "so hot right now" for art collectors. However there is also a potential use of NFT technology for digital identity tokens or land rights, which would open up financial markets to a huge number of people for whom the existing financial ecosystem (such as credit, loans or mortgages) are not currently accessible. A Moment of Magic regularly accepts the proceeds from NFT sales, to donate the proceeds of your NFT, simply donate via our cryptocurrency widget.
